William Witchell Church Plaque

Narrative
This memorial plaque is in Sopworth Church there is an inscription on a marble slab on the west wall. It reads;
“To the Memory of William Witchell sen. of this parish, Yeoman, who was born 30th Jan 1762 and departed this life Jan 25 1824. He was the first promoter of the first Sunday School at Sopworth, established 1789 to which he remained a sincere friend Also of his wife who departed this life August 20th 1836 aged 66 “
